Co-commissioned by Portland Ovations, VOYEUR invites audiences into an evocative world of dance and video created by Bridgman|Packer Dance. Together for over 30 years, the duo has developed a highly unique approach to integrating video into their work, making it their third dance partner. “In an age overrun with virtual dancing, the team of Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer stands out.” (The New Yorker) For their latest work, Bridgman/Packer take their inspiration from the themes and scenes found in the paintings of American painter Edward Hopper. Bearing witness to fragmented moments of private life is at the heart of VOYEUR, where the set, with its open windows and doorways, provide the audience the same opportunity to be “one who looks.”

Please come 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled performance times to get the opportunity to walk through and explore the installation.

“An ingenious trompe l’oeil fusion of physical and video-image bodies...merged and then disappeared with magical and fascinating suddenness.”
